The Iranian army revealed the deployment of more than 50 combat and support units along the country's borders, confirming its readiness to confront threats and deal with the possibility of hostile forces entering Iranian territory.
In an interview with the "Fars" news agency, which was republished by Iranian media on Saturday, the commander of the Iranian army's ground forces, Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi, stated that the deployment began with the outbreak of the recent war and that the units remain in their positions.
The deployment included mobile brigades, rapid intervention forces, armored and mechanized units, in addition to artillery, engineering, missiles, and drones. The deployment sites extended from the northwest of the country to the west and southwest, and from the east to the southeast and the Makran coast, according to the Iranian commander.
Jahanshahi stated that the transfer of personnel, ammunition, and equipment was carried out using heavy vehicles, and that movements were executed at night under the threat of enemy aircraft and drones, considering that this deployment contributed to deterring any attempt to breach the borders.
He confirmed that the army conducted reconnaissance operations across the country to identify locations that could be used for the landing of hostile aircraft or the entry of forces, including abandoned airports, and made arrangements to allocate units to confront them.
He added that the deployed forces continue their missions despite difficulties including temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius, high humidity, and a shortage of some resources, affirming their readiness to carry out operations.
As part of the preparations, the ground forces commander stated that the army reviewed its operational plans and modified its structure and combat organization, working to equip the units with precise and smart weapons capable of operating within interconnected networks, while also enhancing personnel training.
He noted the establishment of trenches, tunnels, firing positions, and defensive fortifications within the camps, aiming to reduce casualties and limit the exposure of equipment to targeting.
He mentioned that the ground forces carried out offensive operations with missiles during the war and launched thousands of "Arash" drones towards American bases in the region and Israel, according to his account. He added that the production of equipment continued during the war and is still ongoing, considering that the capabilities of his units and their readiness have become higher than they were before the fighting.
He acknowledged that several camps were subjected to attacks and that large areas of their buildings were destroyed, but he said that the distribution of forces and fortifications contributed to limiting the losses, without providing a specific toll of casualties.
