قُتل ما لا يقل عن 10 أشخاص وأصيب العشرات، إثر انفجار وقع داخل منشأة عسكرية في مدينة فياتشا غربي بوليفيا، بحسب حصيلة أولية أعلنتها السلطات المحلية.

وذكرت وكالة «رويترز» أن الانفجار وقع داخل ثكنة عسكرية على بُعد نحو 30 كيلومتراً من العاصمة لاباز، في منطقة مخصصة لتخزين مواد وألعاب نارية تابعة لوزارة الدفاع البوليفية.

وقالت مديرة الصحة في فياتشا ريتا نبراسكا إن عدد الضحايا يُقدّر مبدئياً بما بين 10 و15 قتيلاً، فيما بلغ عدد المصابين 62 شخصاً، نُقل عدد منهم إلى مستشفيات في لاباز لتلقي العلاج.

وأفادت السلطات بأن قوة الانفجار تسببت في أضرار بالمنازل المحيطة بالمنشأة وتحطم نوافذ عدد منها، فيما دفعت فرق الإسعاف والإطفاء إلى موقع الحادثة للتعامل مع تداعياتها.

ولا تزال أسباب الانفجار قيد التحقيق، في وقت حذرت فيه السلطات السكان من الاقتراب من موقع الحادثة بسبب استمرار وجود مصدر حرارة قد يؤدي إلى انفجار آخر، مطالبة بالبقاء على مسافة آمنة من المنطقة.

At least 10 people were killed and dozens were injured following an explosion that occurred inside a military facility in the city of Viacha, western Bolivia, according to an initial toll announced by local authorities.

Reuters reported that the explosion took place inside a military barracks located about 30 kilometers from the capital, La Paz, in an area designated for storing materials and fireworks belonging to the Bolivian Ministry of Defense.

The health director in Viacha, Rita Nebraska, stated that the number of casualties is initially estimated to be between 10 and 15 dead, while the number of injured has reached 62, with some being transferred to hospitals in La Paz for treatment.

Authorities reported that the force of the explosion caused damage to nearby homes, shattering windows in several of them, while emergency and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene to address the aftermath.

The causes of the explosion are still under investigation, as authorities warned residents to stay away from the incident site due to the continued presence of a heat source that could lead to another explosion, urging them to maintain a safe distance from the area.
