أجلت محكمة سورية، اليوم (الأربعاء)، محاكمة وسيم الأسد، ابن عم بشار الأسد المتهم بجرائم عدة بحق الشعب السوري خلال عهد نظام بشار الأسد، إلى 22 يوليو الجاري.

ووفق الوكالة العربية السورية للأنباء (سانا)، حددت محكمة الجنايات الرابعة في القصر العدلي بدمشق، موعد الجلسة القادمة لاستكمال الإجراءات القضائية، مشيرة إلى أن المحكمة عقدت ثاني جلسات المتهم وسيم الأسد، وذلك بحضور ممثلين عن منظمات حقوقية وطنية ودولية.

وأضافت أن القاضي فخرالدين مصطفى العريان ترأس الجلسة التي عقدت بصورة مغلقة، وخصصت للاستماع إلى أقوال شهود الحق العام، إذ أدلى الشهود بإفاداتهم أمام هيئة المحكمة، وقدموا شهاداتهم في مواجهة المتهم ضمن إطار إجراءات الإثبات القضائي، بما يعزز استكمال نظر المحكمة في الوقائع والتهم المسندة إليه وفق الأصول القانونية.

وتأتي جلسات الاستماع إلى شهود الحق العام ضمن المراحل الأساسية في المحاكمة، إذ تمثل إحدى وسائل الإثبات التي تعتمد عليها المحكمة في تكوين قناعتها القضائية، من خلال مناقشة الشهادات وربطها بالأدلة والقرائن الواردة في ملف الدعوى، مع كفالة حق الدفاع في مناقشتها وفق الضمانات التي يكفلها القانون.

وكانت المحكمة عقدت أولى جلسات المحاكمة في 24 يونيو الماضي، وتلا القاضي العريان لائحة الاتهام التي تضمنت إدارة وتشكيل مجموعات مسلحة غير نظامية بتكليف من العميد «غياث دلا»، قائد لواء في الفرقة الرابعة التابعة للنظام البائد بقيادة ماهر الأسد، منذ مطلع عام 2011، ومشاركتها في عمليات عسكرية استهدفت مناطق مدنية في الغوطة الشرقية، ولا سيما بلدة المليحة، وأسفرت عن مقتل عدد كبير من المدنيين.

وعقدت محكمة الجنايات الرابعة، أمس (الثلاثاء)، جلستها الخامسة للنظر في الدعوى المقامة بحق المتهم عاطف نجيب، بارتكاب جرائم بحق الشعب السوري خلال عهد النظام البائد.

ويواصل القضاء السوري إجراء محاكمات بحق متهمين بارتكاب جرائم حرب وجرائم ضد الإنسانية بحق الشعب السوري خلال عهد نظام الأسد، بدأت في 26 أبريل الماضي بمحاكمة عاطف نجيب، ضمن مسار يهدف إلى كشف الحقيقة، وإنصاف الضحايا، ومحاسبة المتورطين وفق الأصول القضائية.

The Syrian court postponed today (Wednesday) the trial of Wissam al-Assad, the cousin of Bashar al-Assad, who is accused of several crimes against the Syrian people during the rule of Bashar al-Assad, to July 22.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Fourth Criminal Court at the Judicial Palace in Damascus set the date for the next session to continue the judicial proceedings, noting that the court held the second session for the accused Wissam al-Assad, with the presence of representatives from national and international human rights organizations.

The report added that Judge Fakhr al-Din Mustafa al-Aryan presided over the session, which was held behind closed doors, dedicated to hearing the testimonies of public rights witnesses. The witnesses provided their statements before the court panel and presented their testimonies against the accused within the framework of evidentiary procedures, reinforcing the court's consideration of the facts and charges against him according to legal principles.

The sessions for hearing public rights witnesses are part of the essential stages in the trial, representing one of the means of evidence relied upon by the court to form its judicial conviction, through discussing the testimonies and linking them to the evidence and indications contained in the case file, while ensuring the right of defense to discuss them according to the guarantees provided by law.

The court held the first trial session on June 24, during which Judge al-Aryan read the indictment that included the management and formation of irregular armed groups commissioned by Brigadier General "Ghiath Dalla," a commander in the Fourth Division of the fallen regime led by Maher al-Assad, since early 2011, and their participation in military operations targeting civilian areas in Eastern Ghouta, particularly the town of Mleiha, resulting in the deaths of a large number of civilians.

The Fourth Criminal Court held its fifth session yesterday (Tuesday) to consider the case against the accused Atef Najib for committing crimes against the Syrian people during the era of the fallen regime.

The Syrian judiciary continues to conduct trials against individuals accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Syrian people during the Assad regime, which began on April 26 with the trial of Atef Najib, as part of a process aimed at uncovering the truth, achieving justice for the victims, and holding the perpetrators accountable according to judicial procedures.
