أعلنت فرنسا، اليوم (الأربعاء)، تسجيل أول حالة مؤكدة لفايروس الإيبولا داخل أراضيها، بعدما جرى اكتشاف الإصابة لدى طبيب عاد أخيرا من جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية التي تواجه تفشيًا واسعًا للمرض.

ويُعد هذا التطور أول حالة مؤكدة للإيبولا تُسجل خارج القارة الأفريقية خلال موجة التفشي الحالية، والتي امتدت أيضًا إلى أوغندا، كما أنها المرة الأولى التي يُكتشف فيها الفايروس داخل فرنسا، بحسب وكالة فرانس برس وصحيفة لوموند.

وأكدت وزارة الصحة الفرنسية، في بيان رسمي، رصد أول حالة إيجابية لمرض فايروس الإيبولا على الأراضي الفرنسية، موضحة أن الحالة تم اكتشافها داخل فرنسا القارية.

وبحسب السلطات الصحية، تم عزل الطبيب فور وصوله إلى فرنسا وقبل التأكد رسميًا من التشخيص، في إجراء احترازي يهدف إلى منع أي انتقال محتمل للعدوى.

كما أعلنت الحكومة أن رئيس الوزراء الفرنسي سيباستيان ليكورنو يتابع تطورات الوضع الصحي عن كثب.

وكانت السلطات الصحية في الكونغو الديمقراطية أعلنت في 15 مايو بدء التفشي السابع عشر للإيبولا في البلاد، بعد تسجيل عدد من الوفيات غير المفسرة في إقليم إيتوري شرق البلاد.

وتشير التقارير إلى أن التفشي الحالي مرتبط بسلالة بونديبوغيو من فايروس الإيبولا، وهي سلالة لا يتوفر لها حتى الآن لقاح أو علاج معتمد بشكل كامل.

ورغم القلق الذي يثيره ظهور الحالة داخل أوروبا، يؤكد خبراء الصحة العامة أن احتمالات الانتشار العالمي لا تزال منخفضة مقارنة بأمراض أخرى، نظرًا لأن فايروس الإيبولا لا ينتقل بسهولة كبيرة، إذ يحتاج عادة إلى اتصال مباشر بسوائل جسم شخص مصاب أو ملامسة مواد ملوثة.

وتراقب السلطات الصحية الفرنسية الوضع عن كثب، فيما تُفعّل إجراءات التتبع والفحص للأشخاص الذين ربما خالطوا الحالة خلال رحلة العودة أو بعد الوصول.

France announced today (Wednesday) the first confirmed case of the Ebola virus within its territory, after an infection was discovered in a doctor who recently returned from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is facing a widespread outbreak of the disease.

This development marks the first confirmed case of Ebola recorded outside the African continent during the current outbreak, which has also extended to Uganda, and it is the first time the virus has been detected within France, according to Agence France-Presse and Le Monde newspaper.

The French Ministry of Health confirmed in an official statement the detection of the first positive case of the Ebola virus on French soil, clarifying that the case was discovered within mainland France.

According to health authorities, the doctor was isolated immediately upon arriving in France and before the diagnosis was officially confirmed, as a precautionary measure aimed at preventing any potential transmission of the infection.

The government also announced that French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne is closely monitoring the developments of the health situation.

The health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced on May 15 the start of the seventeenth outbreak of Ebola in the country, following the recording of several unexplained deaths in the Ituri province in the east of the country.

Reports indicate that the current outbreak is linked to the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, which currently does not have a fully approved vaccine or treatment.

Despite the concern raised by the emergence of the case within Europe, public health experts assert that the chances of global spread remain low compared to other diseases, as the Ebola virus does not transmit easily; it typically requires direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person or contact with contaminated materials.

French health authorities are closely monitoring the situation while activating tracking and testing measures for individuals who may have come into contact with the case during the return journey or after arrival.
