عاش ركاب رحلة تابعة لشركة «كاثاي باسيفيك» لحظات عصيبة من الرعب والتوتر في عرض السماء، إثر تعرض الطائرة لاضطرابات جوية شديدة ومباغتة أثناء رحلتها من مدينة بريسبان الأسترالية إلى هونغ كونغ؛ ما أسفر عن إصابة 10 أشخاص بين ركاب وأفراد من الطاقم، ونقل معظمهم إلى المستشفى فور الهبوط.

وأوضحت الشركة أن الواقعة حدثت الأحد 24 مايو، على متن الرحلة رقم CX156 والمسيّرة بطائرة من طراز «إيرباص A350-900»، عندما واجهت فجأة مطبات هوائية عنيفة استمرت قرابة دقيقتين، أدت إلى إصابة أربعة ركاب وستة من المضيفين، نُقل ثمانية منهم لاحقاً إلى المستشفيات لتلقي العلاج من إصابات وُصفت بأنها طفيفة.

رعب في الأجواء.. ارتطام بالسقف وتناثر للأمتعة

وروى ركاب ناجون تفاصيل مرعبة عما جرى داخل المقصورة؛ إذ وصف أحدهم اللحظة بأنها تشبه «السقوط الحر»، مؤكداً أن الطائرة تعرضت لهبوط مفاجئ وعنيف مرتين متتاليتين خلال ثوانٍ معدودة، دون صدور أي تنبيه مسبق من قائد الطائرة لربط أحزمة الأمان.

هذا الانخفاض المفاجئ تسبب في اندفاع وارتطام بعض الركاب غير المربوطين بسقف الطائرة مباشرة، وتطاير الوجبات والمشروبات والأمتعة الشخصية في الممرات، وسط حالة عارمة من الارتباك والصراخ. وكان أفراد طاقم الضيافة هم الأكثر تضرراً وتعرضاً للإصابات، نظراً لوجودهم في الممرات لتقديم الخدمة لحظة وقوع الاضطرابات، مما دفع أطباء كانوا على متن الرحلة للتدخل السريع وتقديم الإسعافات الأولية للمصابين حتى الهبوط.

عاصفة مخفية واستنفار على الأرض

وطبقاً لتقارير الملاحة الجوية، رجّح طاقم الطائرة أن تكون هذه الاضطرابات العنيفة ناتجة عن عاصفة رعدية مفاجئة لم تظهر معالمها بوضوح على شاشات أجهزة الرادار في وقت مبكر يسمح بتفاديها.

من جهتها، أكدت سلطات مطار هونغ كونغ الدولي أنها كانت على دراية كاملة بالوضع قبل الهبوط؛ إذ تلقت إخطاراً مسبقاً من كابينة القيادة، ودفعت بفرق الإسعاف والطوارئ والمعدات الطبية التي كانت مرابطة على المدرج، واستقبلت المصابين فور ملامسة عجلات الطائرة الأرض لتقديم الرعاية الصحية الكاملة لهم.

Passengers on a flight operated by Cathay Pacific experienced moments of intense fear and tension in the sky, as the aircraft encountered severe and sudden turbulence during its journey from Brisbane, Australia, to Hong Kong; resulting in injuries to 10 people among passengers and crew members, most of whom were taken to the hospital immediately after landing.

The airline explained that the incident occurred on Sunday, May 24, on flight CX156, operated by an Airbus A350-900, when it suddenly faced violent turbulence that lasted for nearly two minutes, leading to injuries among four passengers and six crew members, with eight of them later transported to hospitals for treatment of what were described as minor injuries.

Terror in the skies.. collision with the ceiling and scattered luggage

Survivor passengers recounted terrifying details about what happened inside the cabin; one described the moment as akin to "free fall," confirming that the plane experienced sudden and violent drops twice in quick succession, without any prior warning from the pilot to fasten seatbelts.

This sudden drop caused some unbuckled passengers to collide directly with the ceiling of the aircraft, and meals, drinks, and personal belongings flew around the aisles amid a chaotic scene of confusion and screaming. The cabin crew were the most affected and injured, as they were in the aisles providing service at the moment of the turbulence, prompting doctors on board to intervene quickly and provide first aid to the injured until landing.

Hidden storm and ground alert

According to air navigation reports, the flight crew suspected that this severe turbulence was caused by a sudden thunderstorm that did not clearly appear on radar screens early enough to avoid it.

For its part, Hong Kong International Airport authorities confirmed that they were fully aware of the situation before landing; they received prior notification from the cockpit and deployed ambulance and emergency teams along with medical equipment that were stationed on the runway, receiving the injured as soon as the aircraft's wheels touched the ground to provide them with complete healthcare.
