ألقت الشرطة الأمريكية القبض على أسطورة الغولف تايجر وودز، أحد أعظم لاعبي الغولف في التاريخ، بعد تورطه في حادثة تصادم أدت إلى انقلاب سيارته في ولاية فلوريدا.

ووفقًا لمكتب شرطة مقاطعة مارتن بفلوريدا وقعت الحادثة ظهر يوم الجمعة على جزيرة جوبيتر آيلاند في مقاطعة مارتن، حيث اصطدمت سيارة وودز (لاند روفر) بسيارة أخرى، ما أدى إلى انقلاب سيارته.

وأظهرت التحقيقات الأولية علامات تدل على الإعاقة لدى وودز في موقع الحادثة، ما دفع الشرطة إلى اعتقاله على ذمة الاشتباه في القيادة تحت تأثير المواد المخدرة أو المسكرة.

وأكد مكتب الشريف جون بودينسيك أن وودز (50 عامًا) لم يُصب بإصابات خطيرة، وأن شخصًا آخر في الحادثة نُقل إلى المستشفى لتلقي العلاج، بينما رفض آخر العلاج. واحتُجز وودز في سجن مقاطعة مارتن لمدة 8 ساعات على الأقل وفقًا لقانون فلوريدا.

وأجرت الشرطة اختبار تنفس أظهر عدم وجود كحول في دمه، لكنه رفض إجراء اختبار البول، ما أدى إلى توجيه تهمة إضافية تتعلق برفض الخضوع لاختبار قانوني، إضافة إلى تهمة القيادة تحت التأثير مع إلحاق أضرار بالممتلكات.

The American police arrested golf legend Tiger Woods, one of the greatest golfers in history, after his involvement in a collision incident that led to his car overturning in Florida.

According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office in Florida, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon on Jupiter Island in Martin County, where Woods' vehicle (a Land Rover) collided with another car, causing his vehicle to overturn.

Initial investigations showed signs of impairment in Woods at the scene of the incident, prompting the police to arrest him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The office of Sheriff John Budensick confirmed that Woods (50 years old) was not seriously injured, and another person involved in the incident was taken to the hospital for treatment, while another refused treatment. Woods was held in the Martin County Jail for at least 8 hours according to Florida law.

The police conducted a breath test that showed no alcohol in his blood, but he refused to undergo a urine test, leading to an additional charge related to refusing to submit to a legal test, in addition to the charge of driving under the influence causing property damage.

Tiger Woods (born 1975) is one of the most prominent players in golf history, having won 15 major championships, and is considered a historical rival to Jack Nicklaus.
