وسلط جيرونا الضوء على مسيرة شتيغن الذي وُلد في 30 أبريل 1992 في مدينة مونشنغلادباخ الألمانية، وهو حارس مرمى تدرّب في الفئات العمرية الأدنى لنادي بوروسيا مونشنغلادباخ، وخاض أولى مبارياته في الدوري الألماني (البوندسليغا) وهو في الـ18 من عمره.

وسرعان ما برز كواحد من أبرز حراس المرمى الواعدين في كرة القدم الألمانية بفضل نضجه التنافسي وثبات أدائه، وقد قاده تطوره المستمر، في عام 2014، إلى الانضمام إلى برشلونة، حيث أمضى معظم مسيرته الاحترافية.

وخلال مشواره مع برشلونة، خاض تير شتيغن 423 مباراة رسمية، وكان له دورٌ بارزٌ في العديد من الإنجازات الجماعية، سواءً على الصعيدين المحلي والدولي، وفاز الحارس الدولي الألماني بالعديد من الألقاب، من بينها دوري أبطال أوروبا، وستة ألقاب في الدوري الإسباني، وستة ألقاب في كأس ملك إسبانيا، وكأس السوبر الأوروبي، وكأس العالم للأندية، لكنه فقد مكانته الأساسية تحت قيادة المدرب هانز فليك، إذ تراجع إلى المركز الثالث في ترتيب حراس الفريق الكتالوني.

During his time at Barcelona, Ter Stegen played 423 official matches and had a significant role in many collective achievements, both domestically and internationally. The German international goalkeeper won numerous titles, including the UEFA Champions League, six La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey titles, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. However, he lost his starting position under coach Hans Flick, as he dropped to third place in the ranking of goalkeepers for the Catalan team.
